From the original idea to bring a piece of modern Africa to Europe, DURCHZUG has developed itself to a label which combines sportive and unconventional elegance with a twist of wild Africa. Besides design and product manufacturing, DURCHZUG is proud to play a role in supporting permanent jobs on the local employment market. All our products are handmade in Cape Town by a local run manufacture. By purchasing our products, our customers contribute towards the balancing of the local job market with regards to its social aspects.

 

DURCHZUG was founded in 2003 by Carmen Odermatt. The label is based in Cape Town, South Africa.

 

Carmen Odermatt was born in the City of Zug, Switzerland and spent a major part of her childhood in Northern Nigeria. It was during that period, that her parents taught her to face the little challenges of Africa with creativity and innovation. It was although mainly the purity and simplicity about Africa that impressed - and still inspires her up to date.
